About me

Hi, I’m Peter Aisthorpe — a web designer and amateur historian with a passion for lifelong learning, resilience, and geek culture.

My journey hasn’t been the traditional one. I’ve had to step away from university twice due to disability and mental health challenges, but that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing the things I love most: history, and connecting with others through shared passions. I believe education isn’t a straight road — it’s a lifelong adventure, and everyone’s path looks different.

As a student of history, I see myself not as an expert, but as a fellow learner. History is full of stories that still matter today, and I want to explore them in a way that’s fun, engaging, and approachable — sometimes even with a geeky twist, for example with historical settings with video games.

As an entrepreneur, I have a strong interest in geek culture, creating That’s So Fandom, an online store for all things geek and I hope to eventually build a community around this web presence.

I’m especially passionate about connecting with fellow disabled geeks and lifelong learners. Too often, disability is framed as solely a limitation. While I know the impact it can have, I want my work to show it is our actions that truly define us, not our illnesses and challenges.

When I’m not reading history, you’ll probably find me geeking out over games, TV, and collectibles — or brainstorming how to combine them with my love of learning.

Core values that guide me:

  • Resilience — setbacks aren’t the end of the story.

  • Acceptance — of disability, difference, and diverse paths in life.

  • Creativity — blending design, history, and geek culture into something unique.

If you share a love of history or geek culture — or if you just want to connect with someone who’s still learning and growing every day — I’d love to hear from you.
